Welcome to the Pipers of the Plains web home. We're located in the heartland of America, Topeka, Kansas, and we're celebrating  our 32nd year!  The band's humble roots go back to 1974 when two very grown men took up the practice chanter for the first time and learned how to play from a 14 year old bagpiper! 

 

The band performs in parades, graduation ceremonies, various public functions and pipe band competitions. We're proud to be associated with the Kansas National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 635th Armor as their pipe band.

No prior musical experience is necessary.  POTP is a teaching band.  Students work through the band's syllabus and are grounded in the basics of piping as the tunes increase in complexity from novice to advanced.  The band provides free lessons. 

 

We rehearse on Wednesday nights-6:30 to 8:30- in the library of Northern Hills Junior High School.  Enter through the south west doors. On nice evenings you'll often find us circling up and rehearsing outside.  Directions to the school:
